I wouldn't necessarily say that MR2's are "notorious for blowing the HG." Maybe they are for the MR2's putting down some serious numbers, but most MR2's don't seem to have a problem w/ them as long as they are setup properly. The TRD headgaskets are the only ones that people have had problems from what I've seen. This is all just my opinion though.
A friend of mine has a SRT4 w/ the Stage 1 upgrade and can stay right with me from a roll. Makes me feel bad after all the work and money I've put into my car over the past two years.

Mister...Well yeah thats what we thought also, that we would only have problems if we used a TRD HG, so we went with HKS and we ended up blowing 2 of them. These are the HKS metal hg's. I know some people have had zero problems with their 2's but most of the higher hp ones would agree, they blow fairly easily. LOL, look at Troy when he was in the SCC challenge, he didnt finish and after reading why...I should have known (blown HG)
I think if you do the basic mods or even upgrade the turbo, but keep it at around 3-350 whp, you should be ok, but keep in ming we were looking at 600+ and most of the high hp guys are already making 450+ with some way above that.
Anyways...back to the subject I havent seen too many SRT-4's lately. We seen one that was revving on us, but he was always going the other way. Oh well

Hmm....not sure how much a I/E increases the performance on a S2K but a SRT4 traps higher than a S2K in the 1/4 so I have a little trouble believing that you pulled on one during a roll.
The SRT dynoes in a 220-230 hp or so, has more torque, and traps 100-102. Yes the S2K is lighter but the highest trap speeds I've seen are 97-99 mph.
