04 R1 vs. ZX10R ..... yup!
I figured this one belongs here fair and square:
04 R1: 1,100 miles absolutely bone stock except for minor cosmetics (170 lb. rider)
vs.
04 ZX10-R: 1,900 miles absolutely bone stock except for mnor cosmetics (200 lb. rider)
Once again the R1 does not disappoint. I wish he would weigh closer to what I do because I am sure that weight is playing a role here.
Runs 1/2/3: I consistently put about 2-3 bikes on him right out of the hole . The R1 is VERY easy to launch on stock form. Revv and slide the lutch at about 10-11,000 rpms...any less will cause you to bog. Do it right and you will have an almost perfect launch. I would increase my lead by another 2 bikes by the time we get to 150-160mph....
Off the role: starting at 50mph he jumps me about 1 bike at the beginning. The R1 on 1st gear and below 8,000rpms is a dog...simply put. It HAS to be the new catalyc converters they have installed..it kind of bogs and then at the power band it feels like a turbo....it just goes....By 120mph I had already gained it back and by 150 I had about 1-1/2 bikes on him....
These runs were made after the 1/4 runs we did at the track.
The R1 ran a 9.91@ 148.+....Getting into the 9's was a piece of cake....damn it, where is my Arata system!!?? It should be here next week
The ZX10R ran a 10.32@ 145 +....He was having a little bit of trouble keeping his on the ground. My R1 was planted nicely.
Now you know.
