Default 03 S2K VS 90's Impreza (6 cylinder) Vid inside

My buddy swapped a H6 engine from a Subaru SVX into his little Impreza L. The 3.3 litre SVX engine is rated @ 230hp and 228tq. He completed his swap a couple weeks ago and worked out all the kinks so we decided to go out and do some fun run. The weight of his car is probably a little lighter than the S2000, so he might have a wieght advantage...but technically i have 10 more horse on him. But then again, he's got 70+ torque over me so this was going to be an interesting race.

His mods: Intake, full exhuast, tranny from a 5spd forester (short gears).

My mods: Bone stock....2003 S2000 w/ AP2 V2 wheels.

First run we did was from a 25 mph roll. I stay in 1st and he's in second. Right away he pulls and keeps pulling. I think the shift from 1-2 really hurted my run. He puts 2 car lengths on me by the end of 3rd and we stay that way to 120mph.

Second run was much closer. Went from a 45 roll. We're both in 2nd, he only had 1000rpms left till redline...don't know why he didn't start in third. Anyways, he slowly creeps away from me and ends up putting a car length on me by the end of 4th. Shifting into 5th he pulls a little more.

I didn't expect his car to be this quick.

Here's the video from the second run, quality sucks but you get the idea:

he got more torque, that might be the reason he keeps pulling on the S.

I'd like to put the 16's back on and see if there's any difference.

wrong. hes got WAYYY shorter gearing. he didnt pull half as bad as i thought by reading the post. still props to that guy, i would have never thought that an H6 swap would have made the little car move that well. s2k are pretty quick from a 45 roll, thats our sweet spot, but his 3rd and 4th pulled pretty good.

do you think if the S was equipped with gears (let say 4.44 or 4.56) would that make it even? im considering on changing route. instead of installing the CTSC w/AC, ill get a gear swap instead but im leaning more on 4.44 fd.

Well, if you compare a stock S to one with 4.56 gears....the difference is pretty noticable, geared S2000's will just keep pulling.

Like this: stock VS 4.56 gears
