02 Z06 vs Modded Firehawk
Well this isnt really a kill, One of our friends just got heads, cams and has longtubes, catback (no cats) 4:10's etc on his Firehawk, he recently dyno'd it and made 448whp and 434tq. Well he's been wanting to run our Z06, well we were all out one night and him and my wife ended up racing. As most of you know that frequent here our Z06 has always been pretty quick, it pulled my ported, pullied Cobra that made 490 whp and 522 tq. Well we figured thsi qould be a good comparison. Well they raced 3 times and our buddy jumped a couple times a bit early and stayed ahead, but the one time they took off even it was a pretty good race, they were pretty much even from 50-150. Our buddy with the Firehawk thought he would have pulled the Vette. I thought it would be a good race because I know how fast our Z06 is. Anyways I was just curious what you guys thought. You think its an expected outcome or should the Firehawk have pulled? Thanks

Nice run...and nice cars!
I don't understand how your Z06, which would pull on your Cobra (which is making 490 whp and 522 tq), would lose to a Firehawk making 448 whp and 434 tq. Doesn't a Cobra weigh about the same as a Firehawk? Unless there is a significant difference in weight and/or gearing, seems to me you should be posting a kill here.

Well she didnt lose to the Firehawk, they were even. The Cobra weighs probably 300lbs more than the Firehawk if im correct. Typically a H/C LSI will be even with a 500 hp Cobra. Im just curious how our Z06 with what we know of as far as mods (exhaust) can keep up with a 448 whp Firehawk and 490 whp Cobra. BTW...both of those cars cant keep up with my Cobra now, lol it wouldnt even be close

I think he'll take you . 450 to the wheels is pretty damn strong. although you have the weight advantage, hes got more power and doesnt way too much more than you, so I give the nod to him. either way it will be a great race.

brock...Sorry did I miss something? We already raced, well not me, but my wife and him already raced and they were even. Lol, it would be hard to beat me (my Cobra) with only 450 whp.

I would expect the outcome you guys had with it changing here and there based on racing conditions (driver, car, etc etc). You have a clear weight advantage on the hawk and are probably somewhere in the 380rwhp or more range. From a stop it may be a different outcome with his 4.10's granted he has the traction to keep the power usable.

Yeah, it was a good race. Were going to try and get the Z06 dyno'd this weekend before I throw my Cobra on the dyno for its dyno tune. I just want a quick baseline. Dont know if he'll do it or not, I have an appt for the Cobra but we'll see if he will do the Vette real quick, maybe just 1 pull, to get a ballpark figure.

u guys should take into considerations the difference in the coefficient of drag btwn the terminator and firehawk.
rolling races that last till high speeds depend on gearing and aerodynamic. the c5z has both areas very well covered.
better aero = less resistance to overcome = less power needed to accelerate.
sick cars man, always enjoy ur stories.
