02 S2K vs. 91 MR2 Turbo
So, coming home from Camas on Highway 14 West, my friend in his modded MR2 Turbo pulls along beside me for a race. He has straight pipes, apexi intake, and a boost controller set at 14.5 pounds. I am completely stock. We have never actually had a good race, and this looked like a good chance.
I down shift to third at about 60-65 mph, and go for it, getting full car length lead. (for some stupid reason, he was in fourth at the start and had to downshift to third, which explains why I got the lead). I cut infront of him to pass a SUV and then I get back over into the slow lane. He stays right behind the entire way through 4. I shift to fifth and go to about 120 before I back off. I would of stayed on it but my passenger (my friend was by himself) was freaking out and told me to slow down. I was disappointed because I had open road and wanted to top out fifth, but I don't like scaring my friends.
Anyways, it was a great run and reminded me how addicting racing can be. It also reminds me how slow me daily driver is (98 accord 4 cly auto with VTEC). It takes that thing what seems like an eternity to get to just 100.
I realized how much fun it is when you have two different cars that are evenly matched.

oh yea, thats defiantly gonna be a good race. The car i had right before i picked up my s2 was a 91 mr2. I had the JDM swapped 3gste genII, intake, exhaust, jdm c20b (ceramic turbine) and a lot of handling mods, and i'd say they are very close in speed. I'd have to say the deuce would prob take my s2 off the line for a few yards, w/ teat ceramic turbine i was hitting big boost @ only 3.5krpms, but the s2 would probably reel him in. The problem with the mr2's stock turbo is it becomes inefficient past about 6.5k rpms. I know w/ the genII engine i had the redline was @ 7250, but it was pointless for me to take it there. The s2000 has just got a bit more top end, and a bit better gearing, i think the s2000 should win any race from a roll.

Yep, thats why you upgrade to the newer CT-26 instead of that midget turbo they slapped in there. I love both the S2000 and MR2-T as I as well own/ owned both
