Default Your thoughts on two racing forums - track vs autox

I was wondering what other's think. Since the set-up's differ, tire pressure, add-on equipment, etc. I've often wondered if it wouldn't be better to have two forums - one for track junkies and one for autox'ers. I realize some folks do both, but on the whole I find it confusing with both groups contributing and coming from two different points of view. Your thoughts?

I agree that the two are dissimilar. AutoX is track racing on the first lap of an unknown track. What sane track racer wants his car set up for cold tires and lots of oversteer?

I guess theoretically it could be 3 forums, track, drag and solo2. I hate to split a relatively low volume forum like this into even lower volume sub forums. There is a lot of crossover that we would kill by splitting them up.

Is there enough activity to warrant such a split? How about using topic icons instead. You could choose an icon for your post to best describe what it relates to. A cone for autox, a checker flag for track and a xmas tree for drag??

I think the forum should stay as is. Whatever the venue, everyone here (IMO) shares the same interest of driving their car beyond what can be done on the street, and all of the setup issues that go along with that. And while they may be very different venues, alot of that setup still crosses over.

cthree, I respect that it's a low volume venue and therefore, I really like your idea.... just something to differentiate the various avenue's. That's get my vote.

Hey!

I want a topic icon for rallying the S2000 as well :-)

Seriously though, AutoX and road-racing have enough in common to keep them in the same low volume forum, IMHO.

I'm always surprised when I go to the racing forums of other car boards and it's 90%+ about 1/4 mile drags... On cars like Z06's which are actually fantastic AutoX and track cars!

But the differences between the three mediums is dramatic other than the common bond of love of racing. That's why cthree's idea of just identifiying which one -- could be very useful and beneficial to anyone who is interested in one aspect of the sport. If someone wishes to entertain all three... they could read and participate in all three. I still vote for cthree's idea. Perhaps an icon that was generic to all four -- track, autox, drag, and rally would be helpful as well.

It seems to me that most threads identify what venue we're talking about. I've never had a problem getting confused 'cause someone was talking about auto-xing when I thought they were talking about track driving or vice-versa. If we're gonna separate forums then I think we need a separate forum for each level of the pyramid of speed
