I've never seen one actually painted, it was just an observation. Makes sense though because it seems to be made of a different material from the actual lip itself.

How do you like the RE-11's? I was going to pick those up, but decided on the Star Specs instead because of price.

I haven't had a chance to try z-star specs, but they are definetely a step up from re01r. I believe I have got my money's worth as they have lasted well for about 8000km which included 3 track days. Very happy with the tire... grip and feedback is excellent. I may try out other tires as my next set just for the sake of trying them out but i've been very happy with the tire.
