Default Will 245/45 17" on CE28N fit up front?

I'm looking for the biggest tires that will work on the car for OTC. I'm trying to match the 275/40 17's on the rear, which I know will work without rubbing. A 245/45 17 is the exact diameter as the 275/40 17 so would be a good match from that perspective. Anyone tried this size up front, or have thoughts on whether it would work?

Richard, it would help greatly if we knew what tire it was you were looking at. Not all 245/45 17s are created equal. specificly we need the section width and tread width and recommended rim width for that paticular tire. Tire diameter would be usefull as well as the camber you are running up front.

Dave, it's the BF Goodrich KD's. Here's their spec chart: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/assets/pdf/...force_ta_kd.pdf
I'd adjust camber and ride-height as appropriate, and possibly put heavier springs up front (now 425 lb/in) id necessary. I'm also running the Comptech adjustable bar which can really increase roll stiffness.

Richard,
Get as much rubber on the rim as you can, and use your extensively-adjustable suspension to fine-tune the balance. (That's why it's adjustable!)

John, the rim will handle it but clearance is the question. Dave/Rylan/Will, can you tell me the dimensions of the slicks you are running and any issues with clearance? ANy info appreciated .

Have you considered going with a 18x10-10.5 rear? Then you could use a 255 front tire on the 17x9.

Are you trying to fit the 245 on the front with the 17x9 or the 17x7.5? The 17x9 up front should work with a spacer, but you will rub as you approach full lock.

From other discussions related to the KD's, they tend to run narrower tan other brands in the same sizes. For the purpose of illustration, their 225/255 x17 combo has less stagger than other brands according to Tire Rack's numbers.

Offsets/backspacing AND wheel width are significantly different for their wheels, there isn't much to compare.

Ry and I run the 250/640R18 up front and the 280/650R18 in the rear. Specs are closer to a 255 300 combo.

Jerry, I take it the use of the spacer with the 9" CE28Ns up front is because of the smaller center bore. Has anyone tried to widen that bore and not use a spacer? I bet the 245s would fit much better at that point.

Can the offset of the 7.5" CE28N be made to work by use of spacers, or is this going in the wrong direction?
