Default At what speed do rear wings start making a diff?

I am no where near that stage, but I was curious at what speed do most rear wings start producing appreciably downforce?

Going by feel of the car, I think I noticed a difference once speeds got to 85-100 mph.

Any speed. Having the wing on your car can boost your psychological confidence .

On a serious note, i believe Sri's estimation is good.

What kind of car? On something like a Phantom or BBR, I would guess about 30 MPH. On a Pantera, you might feel the difference above 150 MPH.

It all depends on the wing, the car, the driver, etc. The wing is contributing aerodynamic force to the car any time the car is moving, although at high speed it does a lot more than at low speed. But whether it "makes a difference" or not depends on the circumstances.

Assuming we are talking about an S2000 since this is an S2000 board, and assuming avg wing available for an S2000 (J's, APR GTC 200, ebay wing) , then I think 85+ mph is a good estimate on when the avg. person will notice a difference.

A wing like this could change results drastically:

BTW, that pic is from this this interesting thread : http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28732

They were "dissin" his wing so I am presuming they've never seen some of the Mod cars?

On some of those there is more wing than there is car.

Wings on both front and rear

I would guess to say that top down much higher speeds (90+) if at all, top up I can feel the downforce at 70+.

Mine is a mugen wing so it's much smaller than most racing wings.
