I know neal sapp raced the S2000 (basically stock with upgraded tires, exhaust and brake pads) in T2 vs Camaro's and others.....

is there any other class it fits into for speedvision (speed now) racing, SCCA, NASA? I know the Honda-Challenge would be ok to run a stripped S2000 against a bunch of Hybrid Civic's.

I think the rules for honda-challenge are more lenient for mods... i think you can remove carpet, etc.... where I thought Neal Sapp's car was almost stock.?

anyone know.

You mean professionally or club racing? SCCAPro perhaps (Speedvision touring car champs). Basically the same cars as T2.

I have not seen any S2000's in the speedvision series. which league would it fit in? seems like it would be too good for the lower league, but it certainly could not compete against supercharged NSX's in the higher $ league.?

The S2000 does not qualify for the Touring class in the Speed World Challenge (no back seats). It can compete in the GT class but it will need some type of forced induction to keep up with the big boys Even the Realtime Racing NSX uses a supercharger. Otherwise it wouldn't be able to keep up with the other cars.

Another option is OTC ( www.opentrackchallenge.com ) where the S2K can compete in Touring 3 (street tires, any mods you want) or Unlimited 3 (race tires, any mods you want).

Kind of like the US Open for trackies.

what is the OTC definition of street tires? DOT R as in Hoosier or is it more restrictive?

For this year's event we've moved to the common standard of a 140 treadwear rating as being the lower limit for a "street tire".

at 140 the S02's won't fly I think they are 120.

OTC is a great event... I would have entered this year but couldn't get the week off work. You bet your ass I'll be there next year

Maybe we can Hayashi to run his s2k as well.... his NSX less reliable than his ferrari

Krazik, S02's are 140AA treadwear rated as noted below.

Sfphinkterboy, with some 225/245-17 Azenis RS tires on your car, it would absolutely dominate Touring 3. I don't think I'll be able to afford entry, but you do have to have a co-driver... How about hiring me to change brake pads and stuff, and maybe letting me out for an occasional warm-up lap?

I like the treadwear requirement change. It's conceivable one set of tires could get you through the whole thing. Plus things like brakes and gas last longer with less stick.

Top Touring 3 times in OTC were about as fast as the top S2K times at our SpeedVentures events. If I understand right the OTC Touring times were attained on Yok A032Rs, whereas most of the fastest SpeedVentures S2K times have been by folks running Hoosiers or Kumhos. We're going to have to pick up the pace fellas!
