What is the Best Way To Mount a GoPro on an S2000?

i used a Ram strap mount and strapped it to my passenger side roll hoop. gives you a better angle / higher up that just simply putting it on the secret compartment. or jus put it on the rear quarter at shoulder height, you can still see hand inputs and proximity to cones. obviously only on one side unless you set up 2.

for many videos of our autocross events, and multiple different gopro locations, look for inspiration on jvf1's channel.

you also asked what's the best way to mount the camera? Try a Ram mount, stick the gopro mounts to your helmet, or like me, on the front window behind the rear mirror. You may be required to secure the mount to the car so if it loosens off, it will be held onto the car and won't injure course workers.
good luck

I have the hero2 and I used The Frame and attached an external mic that I put in the cargo net of the passenger footwell. Also, I used the modifry mount. Here's my video:

Thanks for all the input. From what I've seen the windscreen mount provides the best overall driver improvement video because you can see what the driver is doing...especially if Solo Storm is used. Modifry has a GoPro specific windscreen mount (now $35).
The second best spot for driver improvement I think are the side mounts...but then you need two...and that would be best with the windscreen so three GoPros. That might be a bit much. I like the sidemount because it shows the car's position relative to the pylons in great detail. The windscreen doesn't get that nor does a windshield or bumper mount. In addition to 3 cameras, I imagine the side mount, probably suction, would be more prone to failure. It could always be hit by a flying pylon. When using an expensive camera, the video guys get carried away on how they mount a side camera.
Speaking of bumper mounts, Modifry has bumper mount that uses the tow hook threaded hole. It is $20.

The view was much closer to driver's eye level, but a bit offset from the driver. This view may be a better view for learning a course, but would need the second camera for driver improvement as was done in the video.
One advantage of the windscreen mount is you see the driver's actions and the course in the same image.

I like to mount my go pro in front of the trunk, up 6 to 8 inches. I also leave the fish eye as it helps convey the allusion of speed better.

My current thinking is a windshield mount on the first run to learn the course from (some of us are slow learners), and the rest from in front of the windscreen to evaluate the driver and make improvements.

I think, for anything other than "artistic value", the location in front of the windscreen is optimal. It gives an unobstructed view of both line and inputs.
Also, as I pointed out earlier, you can make one for about $33.50 less than purchasing...but, yeah, you do have to invest 15 minutes of your time
