The stock seatbelts work fine with Sparco Rev seats. I know, beacuse I have them.

Regarding the Kirkey seat.. Would any side mount S2000 seat rail work with these?? Such as the buddy club, for an example?

THANKS!

Perceptive as always. The car I'm talking about isn't an S2000, but rather a tin-top. I would be getting five- or six-point harnesses for it.

I did a bit more research, and found that there are retractors available for harnesses, much like those used for stock belts. This would make harnesses much more usable in an around-town car, but I think that they would largely negate the safety benefits of having a harness, so I'm not considering them.

On the subject of not installing harnesses without a corresponding rollbar -- I found a very interesting post on the Rennlist forums on this subject: scroll down to the first post by "Radical Racer". Since my car will be primarily a track vehicle, I'll probably end up getting some kind of supplemental rollover protection, but this post would give me significant pause if I were thinking about installing a rollbar in a primarily street-driven vehicle.

very good read!

i wonder what options we have to installing a harness bar without an aftermarket roll bar.....

None that are safe.

old thread, but the link that pedalfaster posted was still a good read. I'm about to order a set of 4-point schroth ASM belts that bolt into the factory rear seat location without a rollbar on my e30 BMW. I still wasn't 100% convinced on the safety of that choice, but I'm pretty satisfied with it now.

Note that anything like this is likely to still not be safe enough without an SA helmet and the proper hoop padding. Even with a harness you are very likely to make very violent contact with it in a hard crash. The human neck can stretch fantastic distances when the body is completely restrained.

how do you figure?

how would using a harness bar without an actual aftermarket rollbar be more unsafe than running a complete OEM setup?

i have always thought that running harnesses on the street is just as safe...if not safer than OEM 3 point belts. that article confirmed it for me.
