VIDEO - S2K at Talladega
Here's in-car video of a recent event I went to at TGPR (Talladega Gran Prix Raceway). This was my fastest lap so far. Early in the day I was running 1:18, then 1:17. By the end of the day I was getting several laps in the 1:16s. Traffic was a problem on many laps, but by the end of the day everyone was tired and I had the track pretty much to myself.
I only had room to store a small, low-res video, but you can check it out here.

Looks like I need to get my corner entry speed up and brake later (especially on the back straight). Next time - 1:15s!

Well I'll comment since no one else has (probably since most of us are unfamiliar with this track). Nice driving. Looks very smooth. Hard to tell how much you're pushing (can't hear tire squeals, etc.) but you're doing the right things I'd say, and I'm sure you'll continue to improve your times.

looked good, i have no idea what would be a good laptime for that track though. why were there a bunch of cones in the last corner before the straight? just curious.

I'm beginning to think that wind resistance really makes a big difference in this car (even in the 50-90mph range). I compared your video with mine, and found that we both went into the back straight at ~50mph, but you were able to hit the rev-limiter quite early in the straightaway, and I only hit 89-90mph. The only noticeable difference was that I was running with my top down. I think I'll keep my top up during track events from now on. Oh, and for those that may be interested, here is my video:
Right click, Save as...
I ran similar lap times as Sharp Chuter, but took totally different lines through several of the corners.

I noticed that your putting your shoulder into turning the steering wheel. I heard a good tip here, is to pull down with the wrists, and not push with your body. It works for me

Not sure I follow you. Are you referring to my video or the first one? If you're referring to mine, can you explain more? And what is the advantage to your method?

The Vids look good to me. I do prefer running CCW at Talladega than CW. The fastest S2000 times I know of are in the 1:10-1:12 range, in modified (FI) cars. I heard of a Atlanta guy running 1:12's in a NA car, But I wasn't there to see it.
