Vented hood on the cheap
#42
Props on making a functional hood mod and the thorough methodology and testing you did before and afterwards. I think often times we (myself included) do mods to our cars and we don't quantify the changes before and after to see how much the difference really makes. I've read a bunch of those motoiq articles about your s2k and applaud your well thought out and tested mods.
Nice to see real world before and after testing, and what in fact does work.

Just my .02............ no one has mentioned the physics of vacuum. That's the whole idea behind louvers and venting. Just like a paint gun uses air blowing ACROSS an opening to draw material up vertically. Just for fun, and to maybe learn something, put a straw in a glass of water, take an air chuck and blow it across the top end of the straw. say "ooooo, aaaaaahhhh" as the water is sucked up the straw and sprayed all over your doubting buddy. Congrats you have just created vacuum. That's how louvers, holes, cracks, or whatever type of opening you can put on a hood vent heat.
