im a bit worried, since i read that most of you have 20+ psi at warm idle (before driving).

can some one shed light on how i go about to find out whats wrong?,

ps. after driving around Hot idle is still at 9 psi.

you haven't provided any background information. Where are you getting the pressure readings from, what kind of sender are using, what kind of gauge are you using?what are your cold pressure readings? What are you readings at different rpms?

sorry im still a noob,

pressure reading is from the 1/8th npt port on the oil filter sandwich plate.

i have an aem gauge/sensor

cold start right off the bat i get about 20 psi, as the car warms up sitting at idle, oil pressure drops to 9 psi.

i haven't paid attention to what the gauge shows at different rpm, but one thing for sure is it never hit 80 psi while driving.

Suggest you move sender sensor to the stock position so you can do valid comparisons.

I'm getting about the same as you on idle... reads anywhere from 8psi to 15psi.

Single digit oil pressure sounds low. I'd check the Helms manual but I'd bet that's below spec. Perhaps might be a good idea to replace the pump or modify it to get more pressure if that's in fact what you're seeing. Anything below low-mid teens is probably too low.

Something else to note that i've just found out from Blackstone Oil Labs... If you are using Castrol Syntec full synthetic - you are working with a lower viscosity oil than printed on the bottle. My 5w-30 tested like a 5w20 after 1000 miles, and they say it tests like a heavy 5w-20 new from the bottle. I'm changing to Castrol Syntec 5w-40 at my next test day and will report back. My oil pressures were lower than I'm seeing in this thread. At operating conditions over 3000 rpm - 50-70psi and low teens at idle. I was out of vtec for a good part of the last race I was running I'm just finding out.

Fun stuff.

i too have single digit pressure hot idle 8-15 psi at 230-240 degrees and 3krpm my oil pressure is 65 psi vtec is set at 4k and it drops to 55psi but picks up some with rpm. cold test at factory port idle 75psi at 175 degrees idle 25 psi 3k rpm 75 psi . the car has a novi 1000 supercharger and a 15 row oil cooler i figure they are costing me 10 psi. i will be installing the moroso baffle and shimming my relief spring as well as checking rod clearance and oil analysis hope the bottom end is ok my last trip to the track i had 2 spins. flood water was running across the track in a few places and the thrid session my rears where toast

I was seeing a peak oil pressure of around 68-70 when in vtec, that's with an oil temp of high 220F's. I'm running a Mishimoto oil cooler and 10w30. Hard to say how much is attributed to the new oil cooler, but probaly a few psi. I wish I paid closer attention to the pressure before the oil cooler.. I'll see if I can zoom in and read the gauge on some old videos..
