Don't forget the passenger seat. It's heavy and obviously very easy to remove.

Any idea when the rules usually come out? I'm still up in the air for TT next year, but if I decide to do it and finally fully spec the car out, I don't want the rules to change on me post-build.
According to the 2008 rules removing the passenger seat would add +3 points, and that would bump me to TTB. I'll have to leave it in.

Negative. You do not take(you shouldn't) individual points for items removed. You need to use the "alternative" method. This takes into account the vehicle + you. In the case of an AP1, this weight allowance with no penalty assigned is 2810lbs. For an AP2, it's 2855lbs.

In 2009, the "alternate" method may be the only method.

What was the reasoning behind that?

I did not know that either way could be used, but just checked again and saw that I originally missed the big "OR" in between them . In that case I prefer the alternate method.

Of course you had to leave it in, you were barely above minimum weight!

Given that you were maxed in points, you had to room to go below minimum weight. You could have taken it out and added ballast on the floor or something, but that would have been a whole lot of effort for minimal center of gravity reduction.

That's why it it's called the alternative minimum weight. Either you take point by point listed deductions from stock or, alternatively, you just weigh the car as a whole. The latter is the option pretty much everyone choses, as the listed minimum weights tend to be quite a bit below factory curb weights with a driver, effectively giving room for free weight reduction.

I didn't realize Prospect S was near the minimum weight. Then yes, it would make sense that they said you had to keep it.
