Default Trailer

What the heck! After contemplating my 2000 and my car hauler, it was clear that with the car in position on the trailer the doors are almost completely blocked by the trailer fenders i.e., no access to the interior and no driving on or off. So it has to be winched aboard and left with the e-brake unset. So, wheel nets, chocks and x-ed chassis straps. Question: I think I see what can stand the load under the rear, but under the front end, what are good attachments for the cross straps and the winch strap? By the way, I couldn't find a really relevant forum for this question, but this one looked like it was home to guys who trailer a lot.

I had a similar problem with my open steel/wood deck trailer. I went to the lumber yard, got some PT 2x6 screwed them down to the deck, and made little ramps to get me up from the deck to the 2x's from cast off decking or stair tread materials. Gets me high enough to open my doors so I can close windows and pull e brake. Probably not ideal but I have towed this way for 5 seasons now with no perceivable problems.

I just bought some j hook or r hooks. They are awesome. There is factory spots for this pieces right behind the jack points on the side of the car.

You can raise just the driver side with 2x6 wood planks (one for each left tire) high enough to clear an enclosed trailer's fender.

I secure the car using j-hooks on ratchet straps connected to four pieces of e-track (etrack is drilled into floor metal runners using #14x3" self tapping hex head screws). I also put one ratchet strap from a floor cleat to the car's rear toe hook as a backup--don't tighten this strap too much. The highest load will come from an emergency stop.

I get all my trailer stuff from etrailer.com. I highly recommend the use of a weight distribution hitch when towing a car--it really helps no matter how big your tow rig is.

Tow with s2k in neutral but with e-brake set. Place the car so that when the trailer is fully loaded the tongue weight is 10 - 15% of trailer gross.

Don't exceed the trailer's gross weight, tow vehicle's tongue limit or tow vehicles gross + trailer limit. With many tow vehicles if you fill the vehicle it severely limits how much you can tow and vice versa.
