tracking around Bay Area?
Hi there,
Just recently started tracking my 04 s2k. I'm a beginner and just recently moved out to the Bay Area from the Midwest. I've done about 8 track days with lessons. Is there a club/org that holds events around the bay area that isn't too expensive? Events with instructors would be great since i'm a newb.
thanks for any advice,
chuck

Speed Ventures is having a track day at Laguna Seca January 20th. There will be a TON of S2000s there.

Trackmasters is another good organization that holds mostly Northern California events.

Keep the shiny side up.

NCRC is a great outfit, as is Speedventures, Trackmasters and Unlimited Laps. Basically, pick a track you want to try (Buttonwillow and Thunderhill are both awesome) and then check their event calenders....
Speedventures and NCRC are my favorites--at SV events you'll meet a lot of guys from this board and they're all very helpful with advice, setup and instruction. SV/S2ki.com also has a challenge series, which will help keep you motivated, competitive and present at events.
NCRC is a bit different--not very many S2000s--sometimes none--and, well, there's typically no one to help you out with setup except maybe a straggler or two and me. And I'm notorious for just figuring out how to drive around whatever issue I may have with suspension, brakes, etc. I do bring lots of tools, though! But what NCRC events lack in S2000 specific assistance they make up for with instructors. NCRC instructors are all typically SCCA and/or NASA licensed....or guys/girls who have years and years of experience. Spec Miata racers, Speed GT hopefuls, international drivers, etc. The NCRC also runs Time Trials, Relay Races and an ARC race--all are great to either watch or participate in if you feel up to it.
The NCRC is a bit more formal and SV is a bit more laid back. With both you get A LOT of track time.
Check the schedule below for dates/tracks.
