there's obviously a huge price gap different between the 250 and the 200 treadwear tires (along with the 245 & 255 width tires size wise).

temperatures have obviously gone down (atleast here in socal) and my driving level isn't good enough to make the best use with r comps or treadwear 200 and lower tires @ the track. so I figure I should save some money and go ahead with the higher treadwear tires (which, in general, are cheaper in price). I still want to push the tires a bit and get the grip (neglecting the alignment & suspension complexions).

some background info.. i'd like to use the same tires for maybe about 3 track events..

Has anyone come across tires near 300 treadwear that held up very well on the track? - possibly under $140/tire?

Just get Federal 595 RSR if you want to save money on a tire. Very grippy and very cheap. Lower tread rating as well. Will definetely last 3 track days.

grip wise, even with my shitty driving, i can still get 2'01 at Buttonwillow

they were also used for daily twisty driving, so both grip and wear are very good for the price

Not really but you get the point. The rest don't strike me as anything other than daily driver wheels either.

honestly the bridgestone re01r has a treadwear rating lower than you want but it lasts quite a while.

I have the T1R's on my wife's Miata. Contrary to what the above poster stated, they are not "turds." I haven't tracked them, but have safely explored their grip level off the track. That said, I'm about to take them off for the winter.

i had sumitomo htr z3 255/40/17 x 4

maybe it was my shitty driving or i didnt set up my suspension for it.

not recommended they are good for night time canyon twisties.

I use all seasons on the street. They kick ass too Grips like a champ at the speed limit.

FWIW, I've been using the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S tires for my winter driving partly because the Tire Rack tests have shown them to be as good as most UHP summer tires (as opposed to the Max Performance category). At least that was true when I first bought 'em. Prices ain't horrible...
