I have a set of Work Emotion wheels with this specs

16x7 +35mm
16x8 +45mm

Chose this wheels because they are lighter a bit wider and wheel offset are equivalent to stock wheels

I ma using this tires size following Racing an Competition FAQ

225/50
245/45

with Potenza S03 Pole Position


My concern comes because front tires looks to wide for the front wheels, rear set up looks fine.
Are this the correct tire size?

I usually go to road track, drive in twisted roads on weekends

If I'm reading this correctly (+25mm, +30mm) those offsets are nowhere near the stock offsets and those wheels won't fir properly. The tire sizes are fine, I run those on stok wheels myself. Unless you run a lstiffer front swaybar though, I don't think I'd put the larger 225 tires up front.

I wrote the wrong offet, they are 35mm / 45 mm. I am waiting for a Cusco Sway bar, 160% stiffer.

the rear wheels look right with 245, but front with 225 looks as the tire is too wide for 7" wide wheel

For the record I'm on OEM 16" wheels, my track set up is 205/55-16 and 245/45-16. I went with the Toyo RA-1s because Kumho did not offer a 205/55-15 and I specifically did not want to go wider on the front, thus inducing more oversteer. I seldom do autox events but I get in lots of highspeed driving schools.

 

i have a concern:


Due to the S02 contact pach, is recomended go with 245 on the rear when you use other tire model, but the front tire keeps the same width without taking into consideration the tire brand. Why? shouldn't we get wider on the front too?

 

Many of us run the 225 / 245 combination on stock wheels when using track tires. It works very well, especially if you have a slightly bigger front bar.

In my experience it is not as straight forward with street tires since many tend to have softer sidewalls. The 225 on the front does not do quite as well if it is a very soft sidewall, but I still think it works OK. The problem with 205's on the front and 245's in the rear, especially if you have a larger front bar, is too much push.. it simply screws up the balance of the car.

Since I intend to keep my front bar I have concluded that 225 / 245 still works better than other options. And yes, 225 is kinda wide for a stock front wheel, but it will mount and perform OK.

 

Just look at the front tires compared to the rear: the contact patch is much much smaller, even after accounting for the smaller width. The grooves in the front tires are significantly wider than in the rear, so they are much more of a "true" 205-treadwidth tire.
