Looks like a lot of fun. You can have your very own for around $10,000 to $13,000 new.

Wow... Eddie Lawson is still tearing it up! IIRC, he did some Super Kart stuff a decade back or so and this thing looks somewhat like a Super Kart. I'm guessing he had to drive around some of the bumps at SOW... a rib protector is probably mandatory in that thing.

Eddie Lawson still competes in Super Karts and as always he is frickin fast. He worked with them on the development of this car all the way along. This car has 18" tires and runs Hoosiers. The fastest time for a Super Kart at Big Willow is 1:18 and they are looking to better that. For reference, Billy Johnson holds the Time Attack overall record for Big Willow with a 1:18.

Very interesting car. In this article from last year, http://www.sportscar...series-emerges/ they say they're targeting a $12,500 rolling chassis + $1000 to $3000 for a used Yamaha R6 (600cc) sport bike engine. I like how the chassis was designed to accept the R1 (1000cc) engine too. They basically made the largest kart (no suspension) they could

I don't think the wheels are 18 inch but the tires look about 18 inches in diameter.

^^^ You are right, the tires are 18" which is what I meant to say. corrected.

There is a link to the same article in my original post.

They did make an R1 version and would only allow Lawson to drive it. They said it was way too fast for anyone else.
They said it's 4 seconds a lap faster than the R6 version.

Sorry Mark, I missed your link to the article. I just did a Google search and it was the best description of the car. I'd still like to have the R1 engine even if I had to short-shift it to keep from killing myself.

No problem, your's is nicer with the photo. I would love to drive one of these. The times they are seeing are right at the 250CC Super Kart times which is incredibly fast. Faster than Formula Atlantic. The R1 version is way faster you need some serious talent to explore the limits of that.

Rob check this out about Super Karts:
http://www.250superkarts.com/ABOUT250RACING.htm
If you think you need to go faster than a Super Kart watch this first:

I've been lusting for a Super Kart for a while but you usually can't run one at HPDEs or on track on NASA & SCCA race weekends. I checked out the Formula Pacific facebook page and their driver/hot model's helmet barely fits in the roll hoop so I'm thinking my 6'2" & large frame probably wouldn't fit, even with adjusting the seating position. I sat in a Formula 500 car and my shoulders were too broad to fit but there are some custom made/modded 500s that would work though.

Edit: I just got this response from Formula Pacific's facebook page:

Formula Pacific Yes we have one here with the roll bar that is higher and further back. You will def fit in that one. Youre welcome come up to the track and have a fitting if you like. As all the cars are being made to order if you need something custom fited it can be done. Stop by and check it out! Thanks for your interest.
