^ I agree. I was posting primarily because this technicality could cause financial harm to some of our forum members depending on the outcome. It's at least something that people should be aware of -- nothing more or less. I already have the ZII and am sticking with that. Looks like we will be discussing a lot of tires this year with more to come too hehe... Did I say that I hate you west coast people for being able to drive year round? (it's like -445 degrees on the east coast)

^ This man speaks the truth. wind chill this morning showed -7.
So, since you guys over there towards our left have all the nice warm weather, go test some tires and get back to us on results. I see you guys will be testing Z1 vs Z2 this weekend

miata/mx5 forums.
back to back comparison of ZII versus the Rival.
http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread...93#post6155793
I have some ZII sitting at home waiting to be mounted, they came in Monday. I'll probably be running those for the next 15 or so track days or until they cord, which ever comes first. I'll re-evaluate what tires to get after that. Rival, ZII, RE-11A, RS3 (or maybe RS4 by then??). There will be more than enough data after this summer.
My use will be different from most in here and see very different heat cycling conditions.
GL all, and happy shopping.
Edit: Weather - awesome for all my driving fun. so so for my snowboarding activities. I was supposed to check out Krazik's car this coming weekend at Buttonwillow and test the ZIIs, but a number of other things came up. Got a track day schedule for 2/10 - SoCal is awesome for this.
More info from our other open top friends.

-Kidn of a a re-hash of the same info.

Oh come on... it was -15 (air temp, not windchill), with a high of -4. Windchill becomes irrelevant... just don't go outside.
One of the local guys here who got to go down for the test said he heard some second hand opinions that wet grip was "good", but I would love to see some solid testing. Not necessary standing water, but wet surface. I've read through most the reviews from the test day so far... but I don't think anyone out there has had a good chance to test it in Minnesota-like weather. (cold, wet).

"Peter Calhoun: The 7/32 is a none issue. It is a rounding issue and photos will be posted soon by Tire Rack. SEB Chair & Topeka already have them as taken by Rack technical staff w a digital micrometer."
And just like that we're now passed the tread depth "issue" of legality.
