I bet the joint is legal. I can't imagine the taper of the joint is any different from stock and that the center of the ball joint is the same as stock. All the height that occurs above the actual joint is legal. The only way this joint could be illegal is if the actual ball joint is further away from the knuckle than the stock unit and I bet that is not the case.

Introducing...the WINNIE Joint. 100% STR legal, I promise.

i loled pretty hard at this, good work

Edit: the only reason i wouldn't use the winnie joint is just in case i get hungry while in grid. That looks mighty tasty and i might not be able to help myself

The thought of it made me laugh and I couldn't resist the urge to post it.

The term Winnie Is just saying that it would be a BS protest if someone was actually to be protested over this. How come after two years of STR no one has ever said or questioned the spc ball joints? All I was saying is that this is very crappy for alot of people, gonna cost alot of money to fix, and in my opinion would be a BS protest.

Honestly I don't give a shit eitherway. I didn't cheap out on part that are questionable in the first place. Ive got the j's camber joints. Therefore I have "no dog in this fight." I do know people that have the spc ball joints on every corner. If the spc balljoint is illegal they are going to be very upset.

So back to your chilli ball joints...

I dont think they were bugging you because of that... I think it's more that Winnie is a name (pronounced Win E).. whereas weeny is something small or insignificant (pronounced Wee knee).

While I am at it though...

A LOT. alot is not a word

So sorry for spelling weeny "Winnie", I don't think it deserves a whole page of talking about it. Thank you Zeus, could you please follow me around this forum and spell check everything I post? Do I need to pay you a monthly payment using PayPal for your services? What would I do without you! I'm done arguing about spelling. It's not that big of a deal.

Spelling aside, the point is if indeed the spc ball joints are illegal why are we just now talking about it after two years? This isn't exactly a cheap fix for the people that have them.

We are talking about making people spends thousands of dollars to change a illegal part that they've been told for the last 2 years is 100% legal. $600 each times atleast 50 cars. Thats alot of money. Which would upset alot of people. Someone needs to really look into this before posting on the board saying its illegal. I'm sorry but Roberts "excellent" comment pissed me off. It's like he's happy it might be illegal.

Yes Robert, I would consider the spc balljoint illegal in STR based on the information given on their heights and change in geometry.

This makes me laugh... Good thing I have the j's camber joints.
GREAT..
half of us ran these joints last year. so now we all have to change them?

Until someone presents measurements that properly dimension the height of the ball joint rotation center, no one can state whether it is legal or illegal.
