Thanks for the tip. Do I have to get the metallurgy match exactly right for the welds to hold perfectly?

Also, has anyone doing baffles had them brazed during the process to strengthen the contact?

Are these questions too dorky?
The metallurgy doesn't have to be perfect... you just need a welder who knows what they are doing (ie.stitches instead of tacks, thicker gauge metal).

The most competent fabricator / welder I have ever met made trapped door baffles out of leftover door hinges for his Scirocco. They lasted for 7 years... before the car was crashed.

IIRC That was the trap door pan that had that issue. I have not seen any of the others (JDM) fail.
Specifically, third pic down on this 1/2 price special FS post:

So, what about "The hype behind "Made in Japan" Thread and "you get what you pay for"

I don't think that's a J's racing pan. It looks like a $75 eBay baffle that was welded poorly. I have the same baffle, but welded by an airplane mechanic.

Maybe. But if that happened, they didn't do their homework.

They link to Evasive which has this picture.

The baffle in that pan is clearly stepped.

The picture in their thread is clearly FLAT (ish).

Which looks like the $70 ebay baffle.

But welded crappily.

^ But the Evasive baffle doesn't even look like it's for the S2000. The shape is different, as are the bolt holes.

How important is it to have a baffled oil pan? I'm NA on street tires (255 star specs all around) at the moment, so I haven't really worried about it much. My local track is a Nascar track (Nashville Super Speedway), so there is that typical long sustained left hand corner coming on to the front banked straight. That is really the only corner I'm concerned about not having a baffle since I'm cornering at WOT up to 103mph when I hit the transition to get on the banking. Should I be concerned? I was thinking about going to NT-01's or R888's, but I'm not sure it would make much of a difference through this corner since I'm already wide open through it on street tires.
