Those of you running RA1's, are you all shaving them? Any head to head comparos/first-hand experience with running these shaved vs. unshaved? Longevity, grip, etc.
I have a new set on the way, and I'm wondering if I should do it or not. I know that the general consensus is that it's a good idea to shave for running in the dry, and that my car will react differently to the tires based on weight, etc vs. the S2000...but I'm particularly interested in first-hand experience with trying it both ways on these Toyos. Thanks!

DEFINITELY shave them to 4/32s. The rubber below the tread is MUCH stickier. The only reason to leave them full tread is for wet conditions, and you're not likely to run in to too much of that around here. (on the track anyway) If you leave the tread intact, by the time you wear down to the good stuff, the tires will be over heat-cycled. RA-1s wear like steel, so you won't even extend the life much by leaving the tread. Will can shave them for you.

Park Plaza in Lancaster is sold out for Sat night due to a soccer tournament! Never stayed anywhere else for Willow Springs.
Booked at the Best Western nearby, but will keep trying to see if they get cancellations.

OMFG, whatever you do, DO NOT stay at the Motel 6 in Lancaster. We stayed there last year during the same soccer tournament and I don't know if I was more put off by the bugs or the hooligans
I'm staying in Tehachapi.

Another thumbs down for the Motel 6 in Lancaster.
Unless of course you LIKE the idea of having to stay up all night sitting on the hood of your car with a loaded shotgun.
(Those roaches are pretty big. )

Where are you guys staying? I'm going up there tonight...there should be vacancies right, I mean it's in a middle of a freaking desert..
BTW, my GF will be baking some cookies, so you guys are welcome to come by and get your sugar high

I'll be at the Best Western in Lancaster Sat night; driving up in the morning. Last year there was a huge soccer tournament and everything even in the surrounding towns was booked. This seems like a small tournament this time as there were choices on Orbitz.
