I'm checking out the individual sectors and this is really enlightening data!

Now, if I could only go back to the track tomorrow and try a few things differently.

A perfect trailbraking corner looks like this:

1) starts centered on the plot, above the horizontal axis.

2) drops straight down the middle, to the very bottom of the plot (straight line braking)

3) starts moving around the outside edge of the plot, making almost a circular arc (trailbraking -- easing off the brake as the lateral g forces build), all the way until it starts to go above the horizonal axis

4) returns back to the center.

It should look something like a quarter of a circle.

Generally better to plot an entire session, rather than a single lap, so trends are more obvious. But this is fairly good.

What the plots are telling you is, first, that RL mounted his DL1 with a rearward tilt.
To this matter, is there some sort of correction factor you can dial-in in the software to cancel that out? The place I'm anticipating mounting my new DL1 has a ~5 degree forward tilt but is otherwise perfect. Can that constant longitudinal value be canceled out?

There should be. I can tell you exactly how to do it on the G2X, but I'm afraid that won't help you on the DL1.

Yes, there's an analysis option to "auto-zero accelerometers before each run" to cancel out tilt (roll, pitch) biases. I assume Reefwalker didn't enable that option?

It must still be mounted straight fore-aft, though, to avoid a rotational (yaw) bias.

Sweet! Has anybody taken the next step and tied it into their throttle position, wheel speed, RPM, or steering angle (if the S2k has one) sensors? I spent some time yesterday identifying all those wires in my 240's harness, so I figure I'd give it a try. It'll be interesting to see discepancies in RPM vs. MPH that indicate wheelspin, and the wheel speed sensors should detail brake lockup. What I'm most interested in though is looking at steering angle vs. lateral g, to see what sort of slip angles at each end of the car are most effective- i.e., driving in a slight drift vs. "hooked up".

Anybody here bought or read this book?

(Sorry for sidetracking the Laguna thread)
