Snell has several ratings, SA, K and M. SA is for automotive racing.
The helmet should say SA2010, M2010, etc.
I use a Snell M2010 which is not legal on some tracks. But at my local SCCA Solo 2 club it is acceptable.

Unless it specifically says SA2010 on the Snell label, typically located under the lining somewhere inside the helmet, it's not. Your local motorcycle shop probably doesn't carry SA rated helmets.
