Default Silencing Ti curved-tip exhaust for Laguna Seca?

Hi,

So, this is what I have:

http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/merchant...da_S2000_Intake

(Evasive: if you want me to remove this link, just let me know. Hopefully you don't mind. )

As you can see, it's an all-titanium exhaust with a tip that's curved. Any ideas of how to silence this enough to meet Laguna Seca's restrictions, without permanently damaging the exhaust surface visibly? For those who haven't heard these 70-EM exhausts, they are not very loud, and probably are very close to that 95db limit already. So, maybe just redirecting the exhaust towards the driver's side, like I see many others do, should be enough?

Anyone know of someone around So. Cal. who can do the fabrication?

Thanks!

FYI, Laguna Seca sound limit is actually 92dB @ 50ft.

assuming you are still utilizing a catylytic converter and are N/A, you should be fine.

^^ if you are running a cat and stock intake you should be ok. We have a customer with the ti r-em exhaust and passed at Laguna Seca without a sweat.

hmm.... I have:

1. PRM intake (looks like a big cylinder with a filter in it, not too fancy)
2. Berk 70mm high-flow cat (didn't seem to affect sound level much, but not sure)
3. Okada plasma ignition (don't think this affects sound much)
4. T1R 70-EM Ti exhaust
5. J's Racing Headers
6. Oh and... This is an AP1 revving to 9k.. if it matters

................Did your client have an aftermarket intake?

Thanks for your help.

That exhaust is supposed to be pretty quiet anyway isnt it? My T1R 70mm is like 95db at whatever autocross distance is... It should help that its directed toward the ground.

Maxrev ran the 70-EM Ti there with a cat and stock intake. He said he was able to pass under normal weather conditions, however, on a day when there was low overcast, he failed. The weather plays a big part in how it'll pass.

Some methods I saw there back in june were people clamping L bends on the back of their mufflers and firing it left. Seemed to work, cuz their cars seemed loud as hell when I was behind them, but I never saw any black flags.

hmm, yeah, i think my car would be a little louder than his even given the mods.

i would like to do the "l bend" method, but i can't see a way to do it without damaging the exhaust tip. any suggestions?--shops who can do this?

thanks.

The cone silencers from one of the large aftermarker mail order co. makes a difference. They clam a 1-3db reduction in sound. I can tell the difference when I have mine in. My test using my GPS system showed no difference in a 20mph 2 gear pull to redline. You will need a hole in the tip to mount it. The smallest they make is 3in so I had to cut mine down to fit in my exhaust (not the 70-em) tip. It's a small change but may be enough if you are on the edge of passing.

edit

They also make them inside a turn down.

Just thinking that you could have a shop weld a flange to the cone silencer and mount it where the 2 parts of the exhaust bolt together. 1-3db does not sound like much but it seems like a big improvement to my ears when I have mine in.
