Still don't know if I will buy another set but have no regrets about them.. especially at half the price of others.
Can you give your impressions of how they compare to our stock S-02s?

The Sumitomos are a great tire for the price, but I don't think that, size-for-size, they're on par with a shaved RA1. The 245/275-17 setup has an inch+ more tire width per corner and shorter sidewalls than a "regular" 225/245 setup, and the CE28's add 5 total inches of wheel width over the stockers.

Most think that the RA1s are on par with the Kumho Victoracers on track. At Pahrump I was able to lap 3 seconds per lap faster in my stock car on stock-sized Victoracers than Messley or I could in Doug's EMI-suspended, wing'd, CAI'd, and straight-piped car on equally sized Sumitomos.

Meaning, Dave, that I think you could have been in the :31's at Willow in RA1s. Excellent driving last week, and congrats to all the S2000 teams!

I think we could have been 2-3 sec/lap faster on shaved RA1s in similar sizes. The extra width offered by the 17" CE28 wheels and 245/275 setup helped close the gap. To be fair however Richard was running the same wheels and the same tire sizes but he paid 2x the money for a set of BFG TA's than I did for the Sumis.

Yes, i should have phrased my comments a little differently...

The Sumi's in combination with the car setup felt like i remember the regular RA1s grip wise.
