I have run an 275 on an 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, and a 10......the 9.5 and the 10 had the best steering response, quickest lap times and the best tire wear....
the purpose of the correct wheel width is to the make the tread surface of the tire come in contact with the ground in as many places as possible.....as the wheel width increases the tread flattens out more until it's optimum surface to ground contact patch is obtained...this happens with a 275 on a 9.5 - 10.0 wheel width ( every manufacturers 275 varies a bit)

I'm sure most of the people in this forum realize what it does to the tire, but your statement was that it defeats the purpose, but yet plenty of people do it with successful results.
I never said that you can't achieve good results....
There are always optimum solutions...a 9 is better than an 8.5 and a 9.5 is better than a 9 in this case...that's all...not a big deal....
Congratulations on yours and others success !!

You're incredible....
The statement "defeats the purpose" is not a defintive.....it will not work statement....it just says ...there are better setups....that's all.
sheeesh.....

Anyone fit a 275 V710 on all four corners on a 9" rim? I'm considering a set for time trials and already have a set of 17x9 +45 wheels. I'm currently running 255 NT01's.
