Anyone fit a 275 V710 on all four corners on a 9" rim? I'm considering a set for time trials and already have a set of 17x9 +45 wheels. I'm currently running 255 NT01's.

Mounting a 275/40R17 on a 8.5' wide wheel defeats the benefit of running a 275.....

You can still get enough heat in a 275 so they are more than adequate on the 8.5" wheel. Read the autocross FAQ. CR guys are running 295 on the rear. The R-comp has so stiff of a sidewall that it works, and works well. Street tires would not.

Do you have any personal experience with your statement?

I've run both 275 R-comps and street tires on 8.5" wheel and it did not defeat the purpose.

the kumho sidewall is soft, so putting 275 on 8.5 will require really high psi to keep the sidewall from rolling.... high psi = less contact patch.

On my 968 we ran 275s on a 9" rim, and found they worked best with pressures in the low 30s -- hardly "really high psi".

I would say I have a wee bit.....

all I meant is that a 275 on an 8" or 8.5" wheel will deform the tire a bit (pull the bead area in) forcing the tread to bulge in the center and it will make the actual foot print/useful part of the tire smaller...

I never said that someone can't make it work...but from an engineering/technical stand point what I stated above is what actually happens....

I'm sure most of the people in this forum realize what it does to the tire, but your statement was that it defeats the purpose, but yet plenty of people do it with successful results.

I'm not sure where in this statement it says you have run a 275 on a 8.5" wheel
