Section width? Kumo 710 275/40 on 8.5” wheel.

You can still get enough heat in a 275 so they are more than adequate on the 8.5" wheel. Read the autocross FAQ. CR guys are running 295 on the rear. The R-comp has so stiff of a sidewall that it works, and works well. Street tires would not.

the kumho sidewall is soft, so putting 275 on 8.5 will require really high psi to keep the sidewall from rolling.... high psi = less contact patch.

all I meant is that a 275 on an 8" or 8.5" wheel will deform the tire a bit (pull the bead area in) forcing the tread to bulge in the center and it will make the actual foot print/useful part of the tire smaller...
I never said that someone can't make it work...but from an engineering/technical stand point what I stated above is what actually happens....
