Default Section width? Kumo 710 275/40 on 8.5” wheel.

Can some on please measure the section width of a Kumo 710 275/40-17 once it has been mounted on the stock AP2 rear 8.5” wheel or any 8.5” 17 wheel for that madder
Best way to do this is to lay the wheel/tire combo on its side on the ground and using a straight edge on the top measuring the distance between the straight edge and the floor.

Also once it is put on the car with the car on the ground the distance between the widest part of the tire and the exterior of the rear fender. Also please note your camber value and wheel offset if using something different then stock.

My rear fenders are already rolled so measuring to the out side of the rear fender is the preferred method for me to make some calculations.

I am thinking about going up in rear tire size for auto Xing but need to know the exact section width when squeezed on to a 8.5” wheel.

The reason I am asking is the wheel/tire guide does not apply to me because of the rear suspension. The external reservoirs and the EDFC motors are causing some problems with trying to put a wider tire in the back since I am very limited as to how far I can go inward with the wheel/tire.

Thanks

Key word is “when” they come in...

Looking at my options for dual use (autoX/track/DE) 8.5" rear wheel to go with the 4 8" wide OZ wheels I already have.

Kumo 710 for AutoX 245 square or possible 245/275

and TOYO R888 for track/DE 245/255 and possible if I can get a 275 to go on the 8.5 rear with out to much problem and clears everything.

That way I would only need to get two more wheels.
I can swap out the tires on the 8.5 rears for the one or two DEs I plan on doing now per year.

Is this what you need? It's not the "best method" listed above, but I think it's accurate enough.

I don't have the car here right now to put it on for the second measurement, hope this part helps.

In the event the picture doesnt load in the future, the # is 10.493"

Mounting a 275/40R17 on a 8.5' wide wheel defeats the benefit of running a 275.....

It is a bit of a pinch. 265 would be the max on an 8.5", 255 is ideal.

For SCCA autox, when you can't change wheel widths, 275 on a 8.5" rim is the best option we've got.

Suprisingly, they fit quite well.

I run SM2 so no limit on wheel width.

Just don't want to do over fenders so with the suspension there is only so much I can stuff under the fender..

Today was my first autoX on an R comp (v710 245 F&R square shoulder)

On semi wet (20%)
Fastest time of the day was at 26psi hot and was only 1/2 of the way to the roll indicators on the side of the tire.

pulled
1.26 Lateral
1.1 Acceleration
.69 breaking. ( did not even hit the ABS) (Old habits die hard being I am use to being on RE-11 so I was breaking to early.)

The car setup has got more in it.

Now to get the Driver to drive the car up to its full potential
