saner bar and 225's
Hey sorry if this has been answered a thousand times before. Usually I auto-x with hoosiers and a saner bar. This weekend I ran w/ my street tires (S0-2), and the car seemed to handle perfect. I assumed running a big sway bar w/ stock sized street tires would make the car understeer. So now that I really like the way the car handles on street tires its probably time to screw it up. Ive picked up some 225's that I was gonna put on the front, hoping for maybe even a little better turn in response and overall grip. Anyone have any opions or experience running 225's all around? Thanks.

I run that exact setup (with some Koni shocks to further fine tune the balance) and it seems to work for me. I think it can be a little bit twitchy, but the good kind that helps you rotate in tight autocross turn when you lift.
If you read through the autocross FAQ at the top of the forum, the larger front bar and 225/245 setup is the conculsion reached there too.

Thanks for the info. I kind of figured it would be a little twitchy. I was really suprised that the stock tire size and saner bar didnt result in understeer though. Also, I did read the FAQ section and I believe they are talking about R compound race tires, sized 225 front and 245 rear. That is the set up I normally run, but Im thinking of running in the street tire class at some events. There wasnt really a section in the FAQ section about that. Just looking for feedback on this setup.

The challenge is AP1 tire selection. I will be interested to see what you come up with as I am considering this as well.

Bridgestone Potenza RE750 seems a good choice, but expensive.

Of course the only way to find out for sure if it's going to work for you is to try it out
