http://www.helmetcity.com/ was nice to deal with on the phone, they answered lots of questions. They carry Bell and Simpson as well. I ordered from them, don't have it yet, but so far the experience has been fine. Also, if you just type in the model you're looking for in the yahoo search, lots of links will come up. I also looked at the Bell M2 and Sport II, guy at Helmet city said they're also very big sellers, good value.
Thanks for the replies to my painting question, probably gonna leave it white for now!

My helmet is an M95 (is the M for Motorcycle)?
I would think a motorcycle helmet would be stronger more durable than a automobile helmet.. anyone have any FACTS about that?
I've been okay so far.. but I actually would like to consider a more open (maybe even open face) helmet as I don't like the tight and almost clostrophobic feel mine gives me. I usually can't wait to get it off.. then again, I don't know if I notice it when I'm driving. Although I'd like to hear the car a bit more, an open face might help that a bit.

I think the SA rating requires a fire-resistant lining. I have no idea about the strength, though. M is fine for autoX, but tracks won't allow it.

It appears all our CASC sanctioned Solo 1 events are fine with M helmets as long as a roll cage isn't in the car.
Looks like it could go either way, but ultimately the right thing to do is buy SA95/2000 and be done with the issue.

My understanding is that the main difference between "M" and "SA" helmets is that "SA" helmets use a fire-retardent lining whereas the "M" helmets don't.
I also heard that "M" helmets use energy absorbing compounds formulated to absorb energy from a single large hit, wheras "SA" helmets have compounds designed to work better with multiple hits of lesser intensity. I'm not sure if this is true, but it makes sense based on the respective roles of "M" and "SA" helmets.
