In the places where you're rubbing I had to hammer the crap out of my stock dust shields so they didn't rub my Sakebomb BBK. I don't think you can do that to the carbon as it will crack.

Cutting them should be easy, just make sure to wear gloves as you'll itch for days.

Well to cut them I'd basically have to cut out about 1/2 of each side. So I wouldn't be left with much of a heat shield lol.

You run with no dust shield at all and just the ducting on track days with no issue? If so that's probably what I will do; if I cut them it'll end up getting messy I think.

Yeah lots of us do this. They just add weight and get in the way when doing wheel bearings so I never installed them.

You're the man. Thanks for putting my concerns to rest!

Can I have the shields to play with? Could use them as a template to possibility make some rotor inlets.

No more rubbing. Thanks dudes!

Also, another update: checked wheel bearings on both sides. Zero play subjectively, well within spec with a dial gauge.

I do not know how these things died, but my hypothesis is it has something to do with their age and the heat they've seen over the life of the units.

Bottom line: Carbon Fiber Splash Shields are most likely not a good long term solution and have a fairly short life expectancy if you expect them not to deform.
