Default RS3 tire repair

hey everyone, new to racing and was curious if repairing a tire that's at about 50% wear is a no no for a dedicated track car. its a VERY slow leak that took a week to bleed out.

One of my track tires has a patch, no issues. I know plenty here do it, as long as it done properly should not be an issue at all. I had discount tire patch mine.

I personally would never repair a track tire. Way too much stress on the carcus of the tire to risk it.

Then I wouldn't worry about it. However your at 50% tread, so your on barrowed time anyway. Why not just replace? If your on a tight budget and cant afford number #1 consumable- tires) then you may want to reconsider your hobby.

always hated this type of reply, its very condescending,

just because i have money doesn't mean i never try and save where i can..

thank you everyone else for their info, anyone have issues running one brand new tire? or should i replace both the rears at the same time?

I've run plugged RS3, and plugged R1S tires before without issue. This type of thread has been asked numerous times over the years and the consensus is usually ok to plug it as long as its not near the edge. And get the patch/plug combo thing done properly with the tire unmounted.

+1 for getting it patched, as long as it's done properly. The cost will be very small or even free, and get you another track day or 2 out of that set of tires.
I would not replace just one tire on a track car, as the grip on a new RS3 will be very different than a 50% worn RS3.

Good read above. Again no chance would I risk my life for trying to get a little more life out of a tire. If you can't afford a tire you definitely can't afford a totaled track car. At least that is how I look at it. Again your car and your decision. I wish you were local cause I would give you a RS3 takeoff that I have.
