Look at the grassroots motor sports writeup on them. Most people will just state opinion but they have some data in those articles as well. IMO. Ado8s and re11s are to be used if u want great grip, best street car manners and low noise (if u have the bank roll)

Just as a question/discussion point: Will a 255/40/17 RS-3 fit safely onto a stock AP2 rear wheel?

they seem to be getting reviews as very wide and i know that you're already pushing it a bit with a normal 255 on the 8.5 wide rear. i was running 255 hankook v12 evo's, which i really liked, but the stickier model isn't much more coin. plus if you go with a standard 245 sizing on the rear, the price actually increases for the RS-3, the 255's are cheaper. i believe its a more common sizing.

A little photo for you all - Kumho ASX's on my stock 16's vs. v12 evo's on my ap2 wheels -
Yes. All of my reviews are done on 8.5" wide wheels. You'll love the RS-3.
great. I'll probably be ordering today/tomorrow and have them by the end of the week. I've had four sets of Dunlops Star Specs on previously owned vehicles, two different Miata's and a Cooper S. I will say they are phenomenal tires, on a lighter car like the Miata, they make the car into a wet weather destroyer. i know your experience may vary, but comparing those to other high performance tires I've had from all brands (falken rt-615, cooper zpt, goodrich, goodyear, etc.) they were by far the best performing and remarkably long lasting. With the increase in prices from Tirerack as they are now sole supplier, the "cheap" performance deal they were has fallen by the wayside.

the problem comes here: a set of 225F and 255R sized Star Specs is 652.00 from Tirerack (minus a 40.00 rebate). The same set of RS-3's is only 503.00. I just don't see 100+ dollars of performance difference for the average driver (and by average driver i mean street hoon and autocross nut). Even if the dunlops last slightly longer, the price difference doesn't make up much. it is my opinion the RS-3 is the best bang for the buck right now. we'll see how my experience changes once they are on the car...

I wouldn't bet on that. No idea about the 225 but the 255/40/17 RS3 are on backorder until a minimum of May

You should give Advan Neova AD08's a go as well and continue your excellent writeup! Good stuff!

They're just reprints of the manufacturers website data.

Really? IIRC, they claim to have taken measurements themselves... they even post what width rim each tire was mounted on...

The tires I've checked on Kumho's site and a few others (certainly not exhaustively) have the same numbers and NA notations as TR's site.
