Not off hand, but the NT05 is narrower for 255/40/17. I believe the difference is around 6mm a tire, give or take (which is a lot)

so the nt05 run narrow for a 255 and rs3 run wide for a 255, is that correct?

I dont like how the outside wears like crazy on the RS3, and it cant handle heat. You think those differences make the RE11 a better choice? I NEED tires within a month but not sure which to get.

If the outside is wearing like crazy, you need more camber. A lot more camber. What are you running. I recommend at least -3.5 on stock bushings.

I run -2.8f -2.2r and i get near perfect tire wear for DD and Autox... more would be ideal for performance though... I am surprised to see anyone say they cannot handle heat, because one of it's most liked features amongst the autox community, and a few track guys I have talked to, is that it performs better than any of the others in high heat...

well if his alignment isn't ideal and he's wearing the crap out of part of the tire instead of the whole thing that would explain why he thinks it can't handle the heat.

I'd run at least -3 in the rear probably a little more.

Less work is being done, but that does not imply that less heat is generated. For one thing, when an expenditure of energy fails to produce work, heat is the result.

But there's no need to argue the fine points of the theory. When I have a big slide during an autocross run, the tires that did the sliding have noticeably reduced grip for the remainder of the run, causing more frequent slides. I have observed that phenomenon watching other cars as well. It's not due to picking up gravel, as gravel comes off almost immediately.

And drifting (or spinning) generates clouds of smoke -- on the same tires that do not generate smoke when being driven at their grip limit.

To clarify, a tire that is cornering with traction is heating the entire tire. A tire that is spinning is heating up only the surface.
