Default Roll cage install

I'm shopping around my area for someone to install a roll cage for SCCA club racing. I went ahead and got a quote from probably the most reputable shop in the area (they prepare and have their own race team that races Mclarens). Their primary source of business is preparing and maintaining race cars for people, so this is essentially what they do to keep the shop alive. I'll just get right to it: $11,000!!!!!!! I've never had a roll cage installed in any of my own cars, but I have talked to a lot of people who have done and this seems to be new than double what I have heard from anyone else as far as cost. I have no doubt that this shop would make a great roll cage, one that is nearly perfect in every way, but that's a little ridiculous. I could just buy another s2k!!

Has anyone else had a full cage installed? If so what is the ballpark figure that you spent? I've heard a few tell me just under $4000 which seems correct to me.

Thanks

A quote of $11,000.00 is just high IF all they do is install a cage. Now if your car is stock with all the trim in it then they do have to remove all that, remove sound dead material, heat shield material (PITA) and install your race seat, harness etc...... Are they prepping the cockpit metal to paint all of the inside or leave it as is? What metal is this 11 k cage made from? Extra gussets?

$3-4K for cage is normal for SCCA and/or NASA legal cage only. Don't forget all the roll bar protection, window net etc.... It adds up quick and hope this helps.

Rough figure. $750 in materials. 40 hours of labor. 11k is way to steep IMO.

OP, post up your location, maybe someone local can give you a suggestion. I can give you a reference for someone extremely reputable who would likely be in the 3-4K range. However, you might not want to travel far.

Cage only: $3000-4000
If have to do other things like gut doors / bars, remove cabin pieces, do safety equipment, etc. then more.

3-4k from other very reputable places
