Default Rear sway bar

I just installed the CR front sway bar today. I am still using my MY02 rear sway. The car feels a lot more solid with the CR front sway.

My rear CR sway bar is on order, but I am thinking if it is even necessary.

Do you recommend running CR front with stock MY02 rear sway or does not run any rear sway at all or run with CR rear?

My tires are 255/17 and 225/17 Hankook RS3.

Thanks

I don't think it's different enough to be worth buying and installing. AP1's have bigger rear bars than AP2's anyway, and the CR bar is 1~ish mm bigger than the standard AP2 bar. So it's pretty close, and probably not worth the difference.

Slightly off topic, but I have the rear sway bar disconnected in my track-day AP1 and the stock front bar. Less twitchy.

The problem is my MY02 rear is bigger than the rear ap2 or CR. Rear end of my car was very twitchy on track.

With the CR front, I can feel the car is less twitchy, but still not at where I want it to be. So I would not say the 1.xx mm does not make a difference. I can tell the car is less twitchy with the CR in front instead of the smaller MY02 front.

Richard, would you recommend disconnecting the rear? Do you experience a lot of understeer?

If you go to a rear bar:

OEM MY 04 to 06 = 25.4mm

This will give you a significant difference and you can find a used one salvage. Or buy one form one of these guys that has disconnected theirs.

This size will tame down the back end more.

** Do you have a rear bump steer kit ** You need one for this year car. The rear end is going to do lots of weird and unpredictable stuff till you do this. Rear toe is also very important in what the rear end is doing.

you can play with the sway calcs here:

I am not a believer in this bumpsteer stuff I've run mine stock for ages
maybe lowerring the car helps limit the travel and the toe gain/loss?

Since I've had a wing its felt a lot less twitchy at the rear I'd get that before a BS kit

I run the 02-03 sway and a 00-01 front bar and it feels good

What setup are you running?

coilovers?

spring rates?

Ride height?

year car?

Rear toe?

setup I change it all the time

I used to run a 00-01 bar which is similar to a CR bar with oem 02-03 bar on stock stagger and it felt like a good balance for stock springs/tire stagger.

ran KG/mm spring for while (F/R 550/500) on oem shocks.. saner bar, the ride height about 4 1/2" rear to the jackstands and 3 1/2 front...0.10 total toe and over -3 rear camber, 255 tires all round

Wing defintely makes the rear less nervous but I don't think thats bumpsteer since everyone says the same for Ap2's as well
