RE-11a vs RS3 vs others for track use?

Best? That is kind of broad. What are you looking for it a tire? Almost all the extreme performance group tires are good at something. My first choice was the RE11, but I ended up getting a deal on some Rivals and don't regret it. My research:
Good all around... RE11
Top driver lap times... RS3
Sharpness/response... Dunlop Direzza
Good all around (a little pricey IMO)... Advans
My Experience:
I have the BFG rivals in stock AP2 sizes. They are a great street tire with low NVH and no wear issues that I can tell. On the track they get up to temp quick, and I have not over heated them yet. Grip is good, not excellent, but they have a very wide range to work with. These are about as forgiving as any tire I have driven. Coming up to peak grip the tires give you plenty of warning, after peak grip you can scrub them very safely. Its like having a safety net system on the car. If these tires catch you off guard you should not be on a track! That being said my complaint is they do not reward smoothness or precision. Coming from karting I am very sensitive to tire scrub. I am too sensitive for the rivals, these tires would be good in the hands of someone who constantly overdrives the car.
Bottom line, they can go fast but maybe not as fast as the class leaders (RS3/Direzza).

Read though this thread. Short answer: RS3. Though based on the post above I'm tempted to try Rivals sometime too.
