Oil surge
Hi all,
I just came back from a track day last week and the following is an account of what happened.
A bit of background, the problem occurred through these turns:
- Long uphill sweeping left hand corner (70-80mph)
- Into a very tight, slightly downhill, right hairpin (35-40mph)
Coming into the hairpin, throttle off under braking, the engine seem to die off the revs very quickly. Exiting the corner, throttle back on, the engine splutters and misfires like crazy. At this moment, the exhaust would also billow out white-blue smoke, indicating oil being burned in the combustion chambers. Back the throttle off completely, and a few seconds later, the problem would go away. This would only happen in this section of the track. Nowhere else.
At this point I was concerned and was thinking the spark plugs is causing this. So promptly checked the torques on the spark plug. All were tight and in no risk of backing off the threads. Replaced them nonetheless with NGK Iridiums IFR7G-11KS.
A few days later, I checked around the engine again. I was thinking that if it was something wrong with the spark plug, I wouldn
