I read somewhere the Zonda was on worse tires than stock and they raised the ride height since an owner donated it for use and didn't want it to scrape anywhere. Also the driver supposidly only took it 8/10, not wanting to put it into the wall.

This has been discussed at great lengths on many forums, but what it comes down to is the GT-R is way underrated on HP (consistent rumors of 480whp) and was track prepped while most the other production cars were completely stock. The GT-R also ran a slightly shorter course. The true test for it in my eyes will be at the auto-x.

Still, a very fast car for being such a porker. Needless to say I'm greatly dissappointed in it. I still dream of the day when I can buy a R32.

Shortened course? Doesn't that affect lap times to some extent?

God drives a Mclaren F1 to keep the miles off his GT-R.

Starting the clock at one point and ending it at another.

Still, they are very fast street cars... 1:56 @ Buttonwillow's 'Time Attack' configuration, stock.

There are a number of configs for the ring, mostly depending on whats happending on the Grand Prix circuit. So maybe they did T13 to Gantry vs Bridge to Gantry. Also some people time a full lap where you don't have to stop on the main straight and others do BtoG time. When you go there for a normal public day most people time themselfs from the bridge at Antoniusbuche and end the timed lap at the gantry near Dottinger-Hohe leaving out most of the straight.
