In fact, the stock shocks seem pretty well matched to the stock springs for overall handling characteristics.

Oh no, I am beginning to get worried. The shocks that I just purchased came with a dyno sheet that shows what I assume to be one click on the shock adjustment range. The compression side of the graph shows less low speed and less high speed rebound than the stock shocks. I am curious to find out where this chart falls out with in the range of adjustment, since the main reason for buying these shocks was the low speed compression adjustment range. I am hoping that the setting shown are for full soft on the compression side. I sent these shock back to the builder last week to be dynoed throughout the adjustment range.

Now you see why people say they are softer. Less compression damping. BUT they have more rebound at the stiffer end of the adjustment range.... so they are in fact, not softer.

Using the data Steve posted and the data I got from Koni, I created a new Excel sheet which compares the MY01 shocks with 8k miles on them to the new MY04 shocks Koni tested. The results are pretty interesting.
