Novice Tires Q's
Hello, I'm having a autox school next weekend. I know I need new tires. I didn't know if I should try to get though the school on what I have then replace immediately after or just go ahead and put new tires on before the school. I'm guessing well get 35-40+ runs. I also have an Autox the next day. So this could be 45 runs or more. (probably 60 second runs or close). The fronts have a lot of wear on the insides, but look good on the outsides. The rears as you can see are almost flat in the centers. What should I do. Would these make it? I've never let my tires go this long so I have no idea how much is left when it gets to this point. I DO NOT want to cord during the school. That would be a huge blow to seat time this season.
On a side note I think I'm going to have to replace with the RE-11A's. I have a stock AP1 (Run in STR). RE-11A's are one of the few tires that let me keep the 8.5" contact patch on the rears. I know I need new wheels and tires to be completive but I'm just a novice (doing OK) and I may completely replace the car next year or the next. So I'd rather not sink money into it. I just want to continue learn to be a better driver (this is my 3 or so school). I hope to upgrade to an Elise before to long. (been wanting that car for years). Thanks for the help!

You might make it through the school, but you will have an unsuccessful event the next day given the wear you'll encounter during the school. Keep in mind that if cord shows during your runs, you are at significant risk for a blow-out and shouldn't pass tech for the event the next day. S2000s in STR are pretty tire-friendly, though, and I wouldn't have any concerns replacing the tire with new ones prior to the school.
If it is damp or rainy I would NOT drive on the tires pictured.

Yes, REO1's on the front (Some how I didn't get the pic of the rears up) but they are RE11's (The old ones) The front RE01s were still in great shape when I needed rears so I got RE11's. Did well, but now they all need changed. On stock rims the RE-11a seems to be the best choice.

35-40 runs for an autox school!?!?!? holy crap I dont think I have got that many runs in 3 years of autox.
Our school only got 3 runs on 3 different segments of a course,... you are lucky.
I would switch them out now.
