Just FYI...this size is finally showing up on the Nitto website. I plan to check for actual availability & pricing next week.

EDIT: Adding tire specs for those not able to view the Flash on the Nitto website.

You need Flash just to view the tire sizes? Damn I hate that sort of crap. Why could you possibly require Flash for this information?

(I'm posting this from one of my Linux boxes. Adobe hasn't even released a version of Flash 8 for Linux yet.)

I had planned on running RA-1's in 245/45/16(oem wheel honed out for front) and 255/40/17(CE28N). Diameters are 24.7 and 25.0 respectively before shaving. If I were to go with the NT-01's in 245/50/16 and 255/40/17, the diameters are 25.5 and 25.0. Potentially, sidewall flex would be greater on the Nitto for the fronts.

From the sounds of it, the Nittos wouldn't need shaving- they start at just over 6/32nds. I usually have the Toyos shaved to 4/32nds. Any thoughts? I know noone can say anything for sure as not many have run both tires. Thanks.

It's been in beta since something like last September or October and was released officially about a month ago (v9):

Called locally and no available pricing yet. I called Discount Tire, listed on the Nitto wbesite, and they do not have it in their system either. I'm going to have to go ahead with the RA-1 plans. It would have been much more convenient to get my tires 30 miles closer and not needing them to be shaved.

I have the 245/50/16's on all four corners right now. They are good for grip but the height has definitely compromised sidewall flex. I started them full tread to see if they would be ok without shaving. They are not too bad but there was some squirm and the extra sidewall flex didn't help either. If I had to do over I would have stayed with a shaved RA-1 in 245/45. Right now I'm trying to convince myself I need some 17x9 volks to put the Nitto 255/40 all around. IMO that is the ideal combo for track duty. If you can do that go for it.

Hey! Thanks.

I still can't navigate the site, though. Oh well, I don't have 17-inch wheels anyway.

The NT01 will shave you $ as you will not need to shave them.

I ran a shaved set on the AJ-R S2000 and found to be about 0.75 seconds quicker on a 2min. course.
Tire compounds are always advancing. Why not use the latest version available as both NT01 and new Toyo R888 are very similar in compound.
