Need Help - CE28N/Toyo Combination
Just ordered the Mercury Silver CE28N in 17x7.5 and 17x9. I have a set of Toyo tires on order, but I'm going to change it to fit these rims.
For the rear, it looks like 255x40x17 is perfect; my question is for the front. BTW - I also ordered the Sanar bar.
The recommended size (by EVO, the Volk retailer) is 225x45x17, but I don't see that size on toyo.com. Looks like I can get
205x40x17 or
235x45x17
With the Saner bar, I thought I'd go with the wider 235's. Can anybody give me a sanity check on this? Also, I will be doing some street driving and track days, so I'm getting full tread.

With the front bar 235's will be a great balance. Tedster from PacNW is a good source. Stock suspension? You might need more camber to avoid the occasional rubbing if on aftermarket suspension or lowered.

You talkin' RA-1s?
Yeah, I have the CE28Ns with 235/45 front and 255/40 rear.
My car has always pushed, even after aligning it (to the UK specs), so now my balance is very nice with the extra wide front tires. If your car on stock tires is too loose, then you'll probably want the heavier front bar.
I did get some rubbing in the front with stock suspension, but only on extreme compression with steering input. The fender liner is now tucked above the metal and all is good. You could try more than 1.0

Thanks, Yes, RA-1'a. I should'a said that. Before my next track event, I'm going to do oil/tranny/diff fluid changes (brake fluid is new), and I'm going to do an alignment after the new rims/tires are on. I was thinking about alignment of
-1.7* camber front
-2.5* camber rear
4* caster
Maybe I sould be asking for a sanity check on that, as well.
So, way overheated unshaved? What did the car drive like? I'll be driving on a track with lots of room, but I imagine overheated tires being a handful to control.

Well, I'm still pretty new to tracking the car (7 events). I've seen a couple posts with 6* of caster, but 6 degrees of anything sounds like a lot (unless Kevin Bacon is involved).
I have a decent idea of what the camber settings will do for handling and tire wear, but I'm not sure exactly how caster effects handling. So I figured I start a bit low and adjust.
Thanks for the feedback, it's all very helpful.

jvils, stock spec on caster is 6.45*. Also, you could go with the 275/40 in the rear, which is a closer match in diameter to the 235/45.
Tedster, do you think you would have had rubbing if you had shaved the tires? An RA1 shaved to 3/32 should be almost a half-inch shorter.
