Default MY 06+ still good for racing?

Does the DBW and traction control hinder the car on an autocross course?
I want an '04 or '05 model but by the time I can get one, an '06 or '07+ model might make more sense.

04 05 is easier to modify, but if you won't be doing any engine mods then 06+ is fine.

The 06+ models have the first tune able ecu for Hondata for the reflash. Keep that in mind, as it's very cheap bang for the buck midrange power mod.

The VSA can hinder you if you know how to handle the car but that's why Honda put in a VSA switch.

When you turn off the VSA, you are on your own.

it also cost you $1000 for the headers, 100 for the tp, another 500-1000 for exhaust and another 100 for the hondata img.... lol...

Im gonna be geting the reflash to. Its sweet. You'll always be able to stay in the pwoer band since vtec kicks in at 4200

holly jesus 500-1000 for what exhaust? my track exhaust wieghs in at 12lbs and spent $300 to get it done. Its a 3in from the header back to a magnaflow muffler.

made good power and some tq.

if somenone was or is on a lil budget, thats what i would do instead of spending $1000 for something your local exhaust shop can do, just make sure the have a mandrel bender.

Agree, when you buy an aftermarket exhaust you're paying for the name, packaging, extra bling etc. You can build a much ligher, better sounding custom at a good muffler shop with a magnaflow and some mandrel bent piping for 1/4 the price of an aftermarket.

I built my own 10 pound Elise catback for autocross only with a small oval magnaflow muffler and a 2.5" mandrel U bend. Cost me 56 shipped for the muffler, 20 shipped for the U bend and $40 for labor.
