Miata Spec Car (sell s2000?)

Just did my first NASA event, and was watching all the spec car racing,

pretty awesome, shows true driver skills because all the cars are equals,

Kind of want to sell my ap2 and build a miata spec car,

If I sell AP2 I can build a miata spec car ( track only car) and buy a cheap dd beater,

what you guys think?

I really love my ap2, but too much risk driving this car and worst case crashing it,

But a miata (prob like 1500 bucks) i can have fun, and not worry about accidents,

any opinions / advice out there?

It'll cost you more than $1.5k once you get the car track-ready.

hey tony,

i would definitely go for it. if you have the parking space/garage to store the car in, i would definitely go for it. you'd be able to push it more knowing that this is not ur daily. regardless of how much the bill will run you up on the build, it will still be cheaper than ur ap2

Buying used is way cheaper than building from scratch.

I don't recommend doing what I did, which was to buy used, then pay a guy to tear it down and rebuild it anew. That wasn't especially brilliant on my part.

that's what i meant. getting one that's already modded for spec miata. or even if it's only half way there. doing everything from scratch adds up quick. there's tons of miata's already modded for this

+1

You can pick up a nice already-built car for $8,500-11,000.

I'd say do it. Its a GREAT series with huge fields no matter where you go. You will learn a ton and master your skills as a driver.

Plus crate motors are $1,200!!!!

Happy racing!

Or you could buy an already built S2000. There is one on this board for sale right now. Look for a thread by Scott.

sounds like a plan but I think a proper car is more like $15,000 than $1500
I guess you'd need a truck or something to get it to events as well

Spec Miata is definitely the best bang for the buck series, S2000s are vastly more expensive to track... Plus, you can't beat the competitiveness of SM.
