Default Master Cylinder Brace-STR legal and does it do anything?

I was thinking of making a Brake Master Cylinder brace, seems simple enough to fab one up that attaches to the shock tower. First question is does it do anything, I have read a couple posts that seem to indicate it does? Second, is it STR legal? Third, to make it fit it will route very close to the brake lines, any concerns that an impact would disable the brakes? My thought is that it might, but if it is big enough to damage the lines brakes will be the last of my worries?

I do like the feel of a very solid brake, which is why I am looking at the mod and I have plenty of materials on hand to slap one together, just didn't want to waste my time for nothing.

Yeah I know, I could make the exact same thing for $100 less and an hour of my time though.

I'd be willing to bet it isn't STR legal. These kind of bolt on parts typically are not.

I think it puts you in sp.
According to the 'quotes' in this thread it looks like in 2014 it specifically mentioned it in the rules....but not 2015.

Well dang, the same thread that says it is a big improvement, seems to imply I can't use it . It would likely be a "non issue" at the local stuff I do, but I am not about breaking rules or pulling the thing out to autox with a different brake feel. Can someone confirm that link posted?

TBH I would run it. It's not like you're going to nationals and most local sanctions at least the ones I participate in don't care. I plan on using one.

I understand that, but if it isn't legal I won't do it, even if I get last at every event I wouldn't feel right, it is just the way I am about these things.

The 2015 rules do read the same as 2014 where such a brace is specifically not added until street prepared, so I think I read that to mean it is not allowed in STR

It would not be STR legal. Would not hold up at all if a protest was issued.
